Play videosSince 2005, aspiring dietitians at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee have spent their internships at Centers for Independence and its food service department. During their internship, the students learn the roots of everything about food services, including developing menus and nutrition guides. They also learn how to administer the administrative side of the profession, such as setting a budget, inventory control and more.
Watch VideoMCFI provides familiar foods made healthy and fresh to more than 100 community partner schools, daycares and other programs. Our team proudly prepares, delivers and serves more than 20,000 meals per day.
Our carefully designed menus are tools for teaching students about balanced nutrition. Food items are purposely selected and developed that are appealing to children while meeting and exceeding the nutrient standards set forth by the USDA and the Department of Public Instruction.
