MILWAUKEE (Feb. 7, 2022) – The Centers for Independence’s website, cfihope.org, now has a new tool that’ll make the site easier to navigate for people who have challenges reading standard webpages.

In partnership with AccessiBe, CFI added the tool to increase enhance inclusivity and accessibility.

Now visitors will be able to set up a profile tailored for their challenges. For example, if someone has ADHA and struggles with focus, the person can turn on a feature on that will improve focus by darkening the area where the cursor is on the site. Other examples include darkening the website colors and removing any animations.

With this tool, website usage will be enhanced for people with disabilities including blindness, physical disabilities, cognitive disorders, neurological disorders, and hard of hearing and deafness or both.

All users have to do is click on the wheelchair icon on the top right-hand corner of the site, and a drop down menu helps people personalize the website to meet their needs.

The feature is rare, according to ‘Web Accessibility in Mind,’ 98 percent of the world’s top 1 million websites don’t offer full accessibility.
